An Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, on Thursday June 18, remanded a 25-year-old man, Habib Afeez, in Ikoyi Prisons for allegedly stabbing one David Folorunsho to death with a bracelet.
Chief Magistrate K.A. Ariyo ordered that Afeez be remanded in prison custody for 30 days, pending the receipt of legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The accused, whose occupation was not disclosed, is facing a charge bordering on murder. The Prosecutor, Cpl. Maria Dauda, had told the court that the offence was committed on May 19, at about 11:00pm, at Tonade Street, Ikeja, Lagos.
Dauda alleged that the accused stabbed Folorunsho with an Iron wrist bracelet on his chest which led to his death. Dauda noted that the offence contravened Section 221 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
NAN reports that the section prescribes a death sentence for offenders. The plea of the accused was not taken.
The case was adjourned till July 22.
