Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho, has revealed his ecstasy after the club came out publicly by releasing a statement, to support him as fears grew amid media reports that he could be sacked.
Mourinho lost his fourth league game of the current campaign last week Saturday in a 3-1 defeat to Southampton at the Bridge, after scoring first. This loss cemented the Blues’ position in 16th place and are in danger of missing out on Champions League next season as competiton for UCL places is tough.
On Monday, the club issued an official statement, saying that they wanted “to make it clear that Jose continues to have our full support and we believe he has the squad with which to turn the season around.”
Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport on this new development, Mourinho said: “That makes me proud. It shows the confidence of Abramovich in the manager who has won three Premier League titles with this club. I thank him and I keep working.
“I do not know why the results with Chelsea at the moment are really bad. I can not nor want to hide the reality. And I struggle to find an explanation.
“But I assure you: I’m working like never before and we will come out of it,” he emphasized.
