Head coach of the Golden Eaglets and Nigeria ex-international, Emmanuel Amuneke, has warned Kelechi Nwakali – captain of the victorious U-17 team and Victor Osimhen – record goal scorer, against joining European clubs that will hinder their development.
Amuneke guided Nigeria to their fifth FIFA U-17 World Cup title in Chile, where the likes of Nwakali and Osimhen put up excellent performances.
The former Eagles player, insists that their talents still needs nurturing for them to achieve their potential and blossom at the highest level.
“I’m not against them joining big teams but they must know the objectives these teams have for them.
“They can cope with any rigours faced in Europe but that is if they join a team that will be patient with them all through because it will help their career blossom well,” Amuneke said.
Nwakali and Oshimen won the Most Valuable Player of the tournament and the Golden Boot awards respectively at the tournament.
