A woman went into premature labour and gave birth to a baby boy on an international commercial flight with about 162 passengers.
The Jet Airways Boeing 737 flight was diverted to Mumbai where the Indian woman and her newborn were rushed to Mumbai’s Holy Spirit hospital near the airport.
The management of the Airline said it was the first time a baby would be born on its flights and therefore gave the baby a free travel for life on the airline.
It said in a statement: “The guest delivered a baby boy at 35,000 feet,” adding that a paramedic on board and airline staff helped with the delivery.
Meanwhile, the hospital has disclosed that both the baby and the mother are doing pretty great.
