
A 21 year old visually impaired man, Nura Abdullahi has been sentenced to 5 years in jail for unlawful possession and dealing of 62 kg of marijuana in Lagos.
Abdullahi was convicted on Wednesday after being in custody since his arrest on March 19, 2013.
He was convicted by the Justice Mohammed Yunusa Federal High Court based on tendered evidence by security operatives and his confession. He was convicted on a 1-count charge of unlawful possession of the substance and summarily pleaded guilty.
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA)’s prosecutor, J.I. Aernan presented the case to the court tendering the illicit substance recovered on the suspect at his arrest, saying the offence contravened Section 11 (b) of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Act Cap N30, Law of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.
