President Muhammadu Buhari, Friday afternoon, signed the controversial 2016 budget into law.
The budget was signed at a ceremony held inside the executive office of the President at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja which had in attendance, the VP Yemi Osibajo, Senate President Bukola Saraki, Speaker of the House of Reps, Yakubu Dogara as well as some ministers and aides of the president, reports SaharaReporters.
Presidential spokesperson Femi Adesina has also confirmed the budget signing.
The National Assembly had on Thursday sent the ‘corrected version’ of the budget to the President for his assent which he was said to have withheld pending when he gets the all clear from his ministers.
It was gathered that the controversial Lagos-Calabar coastal rail project which was initially removed by members of the “Appropriation Committee” at the National Assembly is included in the signed budget.
