An explosion has hit the Adamawa Internally Displaced Persons’ (IDP) Camp, according to a News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) report.
National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) have confirmed the incident, adding that the suspected bomb blast occurred at a warehouse of one of the Internal Displaced Persons’ camps in Yola.
The Defence Headquarters has also confirmed the explosion via twitter.
There are conflicting numbers of casualties. The Adamawa state police spokesman, Othman Abubakar told AFP that 2 persons were killed and 7 others injured, while a Red Cross official, Aliyu Maikano put the death toll at 3 with 9 others injured.
In another claim, Director of Response, Relief and Rehabilitation, Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA), Suleiman Mohammed said 5 were killed and 20 injured.
