Reports suggest that President Muhammadu Buhari is ready to review the full list of all last-minute appointments made by President Goodluck Jonathan.
Daily Trust reports that all appointments made by former President Goodluck Jonathan between April 1 and May 28, 2015, the period when he lost the election and handed over to Buhari, are now being reviewed.
It was gathered that, the secretary to the government of the federation, Babachir Lawal, sent a service wide circular, dated September 18, 2015 where he asked all permanent secretaries to submit the list of all appointments made into all federal government parastatals, agencies, commissions or extra-ministerial offices during the period under review. The deadline for the submission of the list was September 30.
Arase was appointed on April 21 by Jonathan following the removal of Suleiman Abba, while Peter Obi, former governor of Anambra state, was made chairman of Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on April 27.
Other notable appointments are: Abdullahi Mohammed, National Hajj Commission (NAHCON) chairman; Asabe Asmau Ahmed, executive secretary of the Petroleum Equalisation Fund (PEF); and Denzil Amagbe Kentebe, executive secretary of the Nigerian Content Management Development Board (NCDMB).
Buhari has already reversed some appointments. For instance, he reinstated Habib Abdullahi as managing director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA). Although, Jonathan had sacked Abdullahi and replaced him with Sanusi Lamido Ado Bayero.
