Arsene Wenger appears to have solved his team’s defensive crisis according to reliable reports that state Arsenal have agreed a £35 million fee with Valencia for centre-back Shkodran Mustafi.

Arsenal back-line is currently depleted with injuries to Per Mertesacker and Gabriel, while Laurent Koscienly is struggling with a back problem.

Weeks ago, the Gunners were reportedly close on signing the German defender but backed-out due to the excessive amount stamped on the World cup winner by Valencia, with rumours that Wenger had already switched targets to Roma’s Manolas Kostas and Southampton defender, Jose Fonte.

Arsenal’s summer spending is getting close to the £100 million mark as they are also keen on sealing a deal for Deportivo La Coruna striker, Lucas Perez after meeting his £17 million release clause.

Having failed in attempts to sign Jamie Vardy and Alexandre lacazette, Arsene Wenger will hope Lucas Perez will bring the much needed firepower in the arsenal squad.
