The management of Lekki British International School, in Lekki Lagos State has expelled a 12-year-old Junior Secondary 1 student for allegedly putting sulphuric acid and ethanol in the water bottle of his classmate because she beat him to the first position for two consecutive terms.
Plans for the third term examination were at a full gear when the accused reportedly sneaked into the school’s laboratory and stole the acid and ethanol around 1.30pm on Wednesday, June 14.
Report says that he mixed the chemicals and poured them into the unsuspecting claamate’s water bottle unaware that two eagle-eyed students had caught him.
The eye witnesses informed the management about the incident and the suspect confessed to committing the crime when he was confronted.
It was gathered from an aggrieved member of the victim’s family that the school management still permitted the student to write the examination despite his evil plot.
However, an official of the school who preferred anonymity disclosed that the student has been expelled.
She said, “The boy has been expelled with immediate effect. The girl is in school and she is fine. We have zero tolerance for such misbehaviour.”
