The Federal Government has once again kept its promise as it has appointed 200,000 graduates who applied, as teachers with mouth watering salaries.
It can be recalled that, president Muhamamdu Buhari’s administration had promised last year that it would employ 500,000 graduate teachers as part of its plan to shore-up the education sector and to curtail the number of unemployed graduates in the country.
“We will devote a significant portion of our recurrent expenditure to institutions that provide critical government services. We will spend N369.6 billion in Education and in partner with the state government and local government areas, we shall recruit, train and deploy 500, 000 teachers…” President Buhari had said while presenting the 2016 appropriation bill to the National Assembly recently.
According to the Cable reports, senior special assistant to the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo on media,Laolu Akande, announced the appointment of 200,000 successful candidates at the second presidential economic communication workshop in Abuja on Friday, November 4th, 2016.
Akande said the graduates will work for two years and will be paid N30,000 monthly;
“We have selected 200,000 graduates out of 500,000. This is the first batch,” he said.
“One hundred and fifty thousand will work as teachers while 50, 000 will work as extension workers.
“Their pay which is 30, 000 per month, will go directly into their account.”
