The green chamber of the National Assembly on Tuesday, finalised its decision on the probing of the privatization of the power sector, as it will now commence the quizzing of major players involved in the process.
The House in a resolution on the motion titled: “Alleged Non-transparent and Fraudulent Sale of Power Assets by the Bureau of Public Enterprise, BPE,” by the Jonathan’s administration, bemoaned what it called lack of openness in the process leading to the sale of Nigeria’s power infrastructure to private investors by the previous administration.
The sponsor of the motion, Rep. John Chike Okafor representing Ehime Mbano/Ihitte Uboma/Obowo Federal Constituency of Imo State on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the House of Representatives in his lead debate stressed the importance of power to every business, family, public or private institution, household and the general growth of the nation’s economy.
We wait to see how this process pans out as Nigerians have been clamouring that the privatization of the power sector be properly looked into.
