President Goodluck Jonathan today May 27 presides over his last Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting as the country’s President. The FEC consists of the President as chairman, Vice President, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, ministers, special advisers to the President, Head of Civil Service of the Federation and the National Security Adviser.
It is the highest decision-making body in the country. Members of the council meet every Wednesday to approve contracts and other government policies.
Jonathan will be handing over to President-elect Muhammadu Buhari on Friday, so this will be the last time he would be chairing the meeting. He is expected to use the meeting as a valedictory session to thank council members for their support during his tenure.
However, speculations were rife on Tuesday that after the meeting, Jonathan might dissolve his cabinet.
