Students in their penultimate and final years in institutions across Lagos State have been urged to enroll for the internship programme which the government is set to organize for about 12, 000 beneficiaries.
The training tagged, ‘Ready. Set. Work’ (RSW), which will run from July 1 to September 16, 2017 seeks to empower the beneficiaries with skills that would make them employers of labour and add value to the society especially at a time when the menace of unemployment has eaten deep into the fabrics of the country.
Explaining the procedure for the training on Thursday, the Special Adviser to Governor Akinwunmi Ambode on Education, Mr. Obafela Bank-Olemoh, disclosed that the students would be selected from Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education, Lagos State College of Health Science, Lagos State Polytechnic, Lagos State University, Michael Otedola College of Education, and University of Lagos.
He said, “When the administration of Governor Ambode came on board, one of the issues he was confronted with from the private sector was that there were major gaps in the work readiness of graduates, and his immediate response was to come up with a scheme to equip graduates from our tertiary institutions with the right skills needed to add value to the society.
“The vision of the RSW is that every graduate from a tertiary institution in Lagos must have the knowledge, skills and attitude required to gain meaningful employment or be self-employed and our plan is to train all graduates in tertiary institutions.”
Interested applicants were urged to register via www.readysetwork.com.ng from today, June 16.
