Chaos broke out in the Epe area of Lagos State as some unknown gunmen invaded a school, Igbo Nla Model College in a speedboat and whisked away the principal.
The Nation reports that the gunmen suspected to be militants stormed the school in the morning of Thursday.
According to the report, the gunmen shot sporadically into the air and whisked away four pupils, the vice-principal and a teacher and headed for the waterway.
Two pupils were reportedly rescued by a police team which mobilised to the school, but the gunmen had escaped with two pupils, a teacher and the VP.
Operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Sqaud (SARS) have been deployed to the school for a rescue mission.
The state Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, confirmed the incident, saying the police are on an aerial surveillance of the area.
He said: “The command, the navy, the SSS, the army and the marine police are all involved in the search,” Owoseni said.
