Manchester City are almost through with the signing of Claudio Bravo from Barcelona, leaving Joe Hart on the brink of Ethiad exit door after falling out of favour with new manager, Pep Guardiola.
The England shot stopper, 29, has been axed from the first team after being told he cannot kick straight and that might be an end his City career.
While the 33-year-old Bravo will be the club’s No 1, 20-year-old Gunn has been told he is now third choice and has to battle 34-year-old Caballero to get on the first team bench.
Gunn, son of Norwich legend Bryan, is highly thought of at City and received his first professional contract last season.
Gunn showed his worth in pre-season with three fine penalty saves in a shoot-out in China to win a match with German side Borussia Dortmund.
With Bravo aged 33 and Caballero 34, Gunn, 20, is definitely ear- marked as the man for the future. As for Hart, he is now the man of the past, with his England place under severe threat too.
England Manager, Sam Allardyce has been diplomatic about the situation, but must be seriously concerned about the future of Joe Hart is is England’s first choice goalkeeper.
