President Muhammadu Buhari during a meeting in his office at the presidential villa has ordered mass retirement of permanent secretaries.
The President was said to have personally informed the officials that their services were no longer needed during a meeting today, November 10, 2015.
The meeting is said to have held behind closed doors at the Presidential Villa and also had the acting Head of Service in attendance.
Sources say at least 17 permanent secretaries were asked to go in a move which is seen as part of the President’s plans to shrink the ministries to cut overhead costs for his government.
The development comes just a day to the inauguration of new ministers.
Recall that on Monday, Ibrahim Lamorde of the Economic and financial Crimes Commisison was relieved of his position as the Chairman of the anti-corruption agency.
