Arsenal attacker, Alex Iwobi has revealed his joy on being called-up to the National team by coach Sunday Oliseh. The 19 year old forward was invited to the Senior team for the upcoming international friendlies against DR Congo and Cameroon in Belgium next month.
The Lagos-born Iwobi who plays for Arsenal’s under-21 team scored 9 times in the last 9 matches of the 2014/2015 season.
He revealed his excitement of playing for the team his uncle, legendary Jay Jay Okocha, played for and captained on his interview with Goal.
Iwobi said, “It’s a privilege to be invited to this great Nigerian national team and also to represent my fatherland. I just look forward to playing. I can’t wait to join the Nigerian team for the two friendly matches in Belgium. It is a great honour to put on the Nigerian green-white-green jersey.”
“Well I can’t wait to play with the world class players that abound in the Nigerian team. I am still young and I am still learning the trade, so playing alongside these great players will do a lot of good to my playing career and most especially the development of my game and my future as a football player,” he added.
