I’m Not Hiding From Buhari, I’m Only Studying History Abroad – Obanikoro Replies Sahara Reporters



Former Mininister of state for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, has responded to a publication by online medium, Sahara Reporters, that he is currently in hiding from operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

According to reports, Obanikoro, is on the run in a bid to avoid being arrested in connection with the ongoing $2.1 billion arms deal fraud probe.

Obanikoro, who is also a former High Commissioner to Ghana and two-time minister under former President Jonathan, in response, also took to his twitter handle to address the rumours, blasting Sahara Reporters in particular for what he described as a dirty campaign of calumny and pure blackmail.

According to a report by SIGNAL, the house in contention is owned by Obanikoro’s second son Gbolahan Ayotunde Obanikoro and his wife, Adeola Olopade Obanikoro. Gbolahan Obanikoro, the CEO of MOB Integrated Services Ltd – an oil and gas firm.

Obaniko further said he already had a suit filed against Sahara Reporters and that the new Sahara Reporters report would form part of the evidence tendered against the news outfit and their publisher Yele Sowore in a case he instituted at the Supreme Court of the State of New York on the 9th of March this year.

Speaking about his whereabouts, Obanikoro said he is currently studying History in the United States.
