The move to impeach Governor Ambode has drawn widespread criticisms for the National Leader of the All progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
Recall that yesterday the Lagos State House of Assembly issued a one-week notice to Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to appear before it to explain why he was allegedly spending unapproved funds.
During plenary, the lawmakers accused the governor of misconduct, and therefore, summoned him to clear himself of the charge. Failure which they would begin collection of signatures for his impeachment.
Reacting online, many Nigerian accused Tinubu of inciting the lawmakers to impeach Ambode, stressing that the former Lagos state Governor was still in full control of the affairs of the state.
Many of the commentators however said the Governor Ambode should stand his ground and call the bluff of the APC national leader.
Here are some of the reactions below:
Ambode should have taken past questions from Ngige as to how to fight a demanding godfather. Fight him by working and also exposing them for what they are and the people will get behind you. Finger each and every one of them. #Ambode

One of the reasons #Tinubu has so much political goodwill is due to the fact that he is not an irrational political force. He is intelligent, patient & has a way of balancing his interest and that of his grassroot followers.

#Ambode don't give up, stand strong, stand brave. Shake tables because you're down already, you need not be afraid of falling. Lagosians end this oppression, #freelagos vote in another party. pic.twitter.com/BXCU4ArLjc

Out of 40 members in the Lagos State house Assembly, none is loyal to the governor. How can you be a governor and not just one lawmaker dancing to your beats ?? What kinda politician are you #Ambode

Everybody is now giving Gov #Ambode lectures on how to be a Hero.
Same Nigerians that the government is tossing back and forth, they have not saved themselves but they are advising Ambode

One would think men like #Ambode and #Fashola would be grateful to their godfather for taking them places they didn’t dream of, yet they end up frustrated by his demands. Still the people of Lagos remain foolish and call a despot “kingmaker”

Dear @AkinwunmiAmbode, as a governor you must and should have a leverage on Tinubu and the @APCNigeria. Bring it out even if it will sink the ship. Don't be a coward to your grave. Shake the table well so everybody will partake in the pain. Don't fall alone. #Ambode

Akinwunmi Ambode made one fundamental mistake, he forgot where he was coming from and Yoruba's always say that, "Eni to ba juni lo, o le juni nu" …he bit more than he could chew!

Ambode's crime here is not releasing money…
If you noticed the Sanwo Olu vibe faded in the past 2 weeks…
Man wants a part of the largesse but Babasope is not having it…
The Deputy Governor who is loyal would be made Governor and she would midwife the process.

Before handling a sensitive position like governor, one should have read books like Mafia Manager, The Prince and 48 Laws of Power as a young person in their 20s and 30s. I doubt Ambode ever set his eyes on such books. “A Prince” will never make the kind of mistakes he made.

Is Ambode still not "carrying the people and the party leaders along?" Won fe kuku carry gbogbo treasury along ni? (asking for some friends).

Election is just in few days and they want to impeach Ambode,
Isn't it okay that Sanwolu defeated him in the primaries?
Tinubu tell us why all these are befalling on Ambode. 😭

1/ Be careful the BAAL you bow to in worship; a burnt offering's required
2/ Our politics is still run like a South-side, windy city Drug Cartel
3/ What should be happening in Kano is unfolding in Lagos
4/ Our politics is built on corruption, yet sheeple claim morality

Looking at this Ambode issue, you’ll see that Lagos and Nigerian politics as a whole is the real life Game Of Thrones.

The evicted people of Otodo Gbame are probably LOL at Ambode right now. He was cruel to those people. He humiliated them. He thought he was beyond reproach but look at him today. I hope they impeach him and lock him up in the dust bin of Lagos history.

Ambode that was once the darling of sycophants now find himself grappling! If only he had listened to the critics he would have a legacy he would have called his! The people would have stood for him against the power that hold Lagos and make it helpless
