English Premiership side, Arsenal has confirmed that forward, Alex Iwobi, has signed a new long-term contract with the club.

The 19 year old Iwobi, who is a nephew of the legendary Nigerian international Jay Jay Okocha has been one of the rising stars of the Gunners. Iwobi scored 9 times in his last 9 appearances for the Gunners’ Under-21 team in the 2014/2015 season.

Although Iwobi is yet to have an official start for the London-side, he had an impressive performance for the senior side against Lyon in the Emirates Cup on their Singapore tour earlier this season.

According to the official statement from Arsenal, “Iwobi has signed a new long-term contract with Arsenal.”

“Everyone at Arsenal would like to congratulate Alex on his new contract and we look forward to his continued progression in the season ahead.”

Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh has already called-up the Arsenal youngster for this month’s international friendlies against DR Congo and Cameroon in Belgium.
