Moments after the sack of member of the House of Representatives, Herman Hembe, the Supreme Court’s sledge hammer has again landed on another lawmaker, this time a Senator representing Taraba North, Abubakar Danladi.
This is following an appeal filed by Alhaji Shuaibu Isa Lau at the Court of Appeal, challenging Danladi’s victory at the primary elections of their party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In his ruling, Justice Amina Adamu Augie ordered Danladi to return all the salaries he collected during his appointment at the upper chamber. to the National Assembly within a space of 90 days.
The apex Court also ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to issue certificate of return to Shuaibu, the appellant as the Senator representing Taraba North Senatorial District of Taraba State.
The judge also warned political parties saying that they must play by the rules in the nomination of candidates to avoid a recurrence of such issues.
