The Appeal Court on Friday, June 9, 2017 upheld the election of Mr. Godwin Obaseki of the All Progressive Congress, APC as the governor of Edo State.
Obaseki was declared the winner in the September 28, 2016 gubernatorial poll, but his closest rival, Pastor Osagie Ize Iyamu of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP candidate was not satisfied with the results.
He therefore challenged Obaseki’s victory at the state election petition tribunal, with claims of manipulations.
However, the Chairman of the tribunal, Justice Ahmed Badamasi, has upheld Obaseki’s election which has stirred celebration among his camp.
