Former Arsenal Boss Arsene Wenger has been contacted by Real Madrid over the Los Blancos vacant managerial role after Julen Lopetegui was sacked last week.
According to a UK Sun citing Paris United, the Frenchman, who is also on the list of PSG and AC Milan held talks with club’s president Florentino Perez over the phone but there is no claim that a formal has been made by the Los Blancos.
Since the exit of Lopetegu, Santiago Solari has been acting in an interim capacity as discussions continued with Tottenham’s Mauricio Pochettino, who is the Galaticos preferred permanent replacement.
Already, the likes of Antonio Conte and Roberto Martinez are no longer in contention, but appointing Wenger would be a huge surprise by the Los Blancos.
According to Paris United, the Frenchman is also linked with a job by world governing body, FIFA in the coming days.
At the last count, the 69-year-old Wenger has also being linked with AC Milan managerial job.
The current manager Gennaro Gattuso is on the verge of being shown the exit doors despite claiming six win in his last eight matches.
Club owner Paul Singer, who is a billionaire businessman took charge of Milan in June and has already employed ex-Gunners chief executive Ivan Gazidis to perform similar role at the Italian topflight side.
However, Singer, who is a big fan of Wenger wants the Frenchman to be handed a managerial contract.
On the other hand, Saint-Germain, are also planning to recruit Wenger as the club’s sporting director.
In recent time, German boss Thomas Tuchel and current sporting director Antero Henrique have been the best of friends despite PSG decent start in the 2018-19 Ligue 1 campaign.
Speaking recently with Sky Sports, the Frenchman, who left the Gunners after 22 years admitted he was keen on returning as a club manager next year.
“I’ll be somewhere early next year but I do not know where, I got a good rest. I watched a lot of football, I miss it,” Wenger sounded-off.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid’s current manager Julen Lopetegui is now said to be on the verge of being fired at the club and Manchester United’s manager, Jose Mourinho has been suggested as Los Blancos’ first choice target.
Real Madrid chiefs were reported to be livid with the club’s Spanish La Liga defeat against Levante which made it four loses in five games for the reigning European champions.
