Porto goalkeeper, Iker Casillas has hit out at Manchester United over its poor treatment of fellow Spaniard, Victor Valdes.
The 33 year old goalkeeper, Victor Valdes moved from Barcelona after winning 21 trophies with the Spanish giant Old Trafford in October 2014, initially to recover from his lingering knee injury.
However, the World Cup winner was sidelined at the English side for most of the 2014/2015 season only appearing 2 times subsequently having a spat with Coach Louis van Gaal. Valdes had signed an 18-month contract with the Manchester side but his contract was frozen after refusing to play with the EPL giant reserve team.
Speaking on the Manchester club’s treatment of Valdes, Casillas told El Mundo Deportivo: “I want to send all my support and a lot of encouragement to Victor.”
“This is proof that at times football is ungrateful. He deserves to find a solution soon because of the type of player he is. Had they told us a year-and-a-half ago that he would be in this situation, no one would have believed it,” he said.
“Obviously, no one wishes him that. I know he will come out of this situation because he has a privileged mind and I really hope he comes out of this. I’m certain he will succeed because we all get back to enjoying ourselves [after leaving a club],” he added.
