Chief Technical Adviser of the Super Eagles Gernot Rohr is set to stick with his trusted starting XI for the crucial 2019 Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against South Africa.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria will take on South Africa by 5PM today in Uyo in the first matchday of the 2019 AFCON qualifiers.
South Africa lineup with new coach Stuart Baxter but with out Kamohelo Mokotjo and Hlompho Kekana who both withdrew from the squad due to injury.
Nigeria is missing Victor Moses and John Mikel Obi through injury but the attack will still have Arsenal midfielder Alex Iwobi, Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho and Leicester City’s speedster Ahmed Musa.
Both teams are not new to each other as they have previously met at the senior level 12 times.
History favours the Eagles ahead of the mouthwatering clash as they have won seven of those encounters, drawing 4, and losing 1 to Bafana Bafana.
The last time both teams met was an international friendly in March, 2015 which ended 1-1. Recall that South Africa denied Nigeria a place at the 2015 AFCON at the same venue in November, 2014. That game ended 2-2.
Thesheet.ng gathered that the Super Eagles might start with the same starting XI as the one that won 3-0 against Togo in a friendly game played on Friday, June 2.
