Nigerian winger, Victor Moses was on score sheet last night as Chelsea defeated Bristol Rovers 3-2 in the English Football League (EFL) at Stamford Bridge.
The Nigerian attacker netted his first Chelsea goal in three-and-a-half years having been sent out on loan for the past three seasons by the Londoners.
League One side, Bristol Rovers gave the Stamford Bridge outfit a run for their money thanks to goals from Peter Hartley and Ellis Harrison that almost caused a stir at London.
Chelsea’s new signing Michy Batshuayi scored twice though it could have been a hat-trick were it not for a late disallowed goal.
The Belgian got the opener and his second goal in a Chelsea shirt after smashing home in the 29th minute with his left foot.
But Peter Hartley got League One’s Rovers back in it with a 35th-minute header from a corner before Batshuayi scored another five minutes before the break after some fine work from Ruben Loftus-Cheek.
Pedro then conceded a penalty five minutes into the second half and Ellis Harrison drove it in but the Blues held on to reach round three of the EFL Cup.
Chelsea made six changes from the side which beat Watford 2-1 on Saturday with £31 million striker Michy Batshuayi making his full debut in place of Diego Costa.
Antonio Conte included another Nigerian full back, Ola Aina in his line up for a full debut , though talked about young right back was played at left back and the Nigerian looked confident.
Chelsea’s defensive errors were exposed yet again though when Rovers’ centre half Peter Hartley took full advantage of slack marking to head home a goal for the visitors and reignite the tie ten minutes from half time.
