The Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC) Professor Julius Okojie has disclosed that students who have sat for and passed the Cambridge International Examination (CIE) conducted by the Cambridge University, United Kingdom, will soon be able to apply to Nigerian universities.
He made this known when he received a delegation from Cambridge University.
Okojie disclosed that NUC and the university are working on plans to ensure that students who passed the CIE could be admitted into any Nigerian university as an equivalent of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE)
Okojie said it is a welcome idea to allow students with the CIE access to the Nigerian University System and promised that the Commission will facilitate the process.
He advised the body to also partner with the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and the National Examinations Council (NECO) to ensure that the standards used are in sync.
The leader of the Cambridge delegation, Mr. Mark Barber, said the Nigerian Education will gain more recognition once the CIE is integrated into the system.
