The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Solomon Arase, has indicated his plan to beef-up the security presence in Bayelsa and Kogi states, ahead of the forthcoming governorship elections in the two states.
According to the timetable released a few months ago by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the governorship election in Kogi will hold on November 21, while that of Bayelsa, is scheduled for December 5.
Consequently, the IGP has concluded plans to ensure additional deployment of personnel, in order to guarantee violent-free exercises in both states.
The disclosure was contained in a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Mrs Olabisi Kolawole, an Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP).
Kolawole further noted that the police management, has ordered the deployment of Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS), to complement the existing Safer Highway Patrol.
