Major service providers have been summoned by a House of Representatives panel over the massive laying off of workers in the telecommunications sector without any ‘justifiable cause’.
The panel led by Saheed Fijabi (APC, Oyo) in Abuja demanded the presence of the chief executive officers of MTN, Glo, Airtel, Etisalat and Intel today, June 14, 2017.
The committee gave a prior warning to the telecos that it would not accept representatives of the CEOs; as they cannot give accurate answers to the questions.
In addition, the summoned companies are expected to answer queries on why they have failed to remit their actual taxes to the government coffers.
