Saraba Magazine, one of the leading literary publishing outfits in Nigeria and, also, a reputable platform for publishing young writers within and outside Africa has announced a Writers’ Manuscript Project. The platform has published emerging writers such as Jumoke Verissimo, Umar Abubakar Sidi, Dami Ajayi, Saddiq Dzukoji, Victor Ehikhamenor. According to the editors, the project will consolidate its mission: There is a growing interest in literature published and discussed within African countries. Saraba Magazine, a leading literary publishing outfit based in Nigeria, has been at the forefront of this conversation by championing the work of emerging writers. The Saraba Manuscript Project will consolidate this mission.
The Manuscript Project is opened to writers resident in Nigeria or elsewhere. Applicants are expected to submit only one completed work of fiction or non-fiction. The contest will produce a shortlist of ten writers, five in each category– fiction and non-fiction.
According to the organizers, shortlisted manuscripts will be published as e-books and audio-books. In addition, the Saraba Literary Trust will partner with one of the foremost literary publishers in Nigeria to publish the winning manuscripts from each category.
The prize includes an award of N100,000 to the winning manuscripts in both categories. And all shortlisted entrants will receive a publishing deal from Saraba, including N100,000 advance against royalties.
