An enraged worker has resorted to a physical means of venting his anger after his employee failed to pay his salary.

The 19-year-old man identified as John Edward was arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday in Lagos State for beating up his employer over delayed payment.

Edward is facing a four-count charge bordering on assault, conspiracy and malicious damage to which he pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, Mr Ishola Samuel, told the court that the accused committed the offences on Sept. 1 at Olusoji Idowu St. Ilupeju, Lagos.

Samuel said the accused conspired with others still at large and assaulted their employer, Solomon David, over delay in the payment of their salaries.

“The accused used dangerous weapons such as iron rod and stick to inflict injuries on the complainant,’’ the prosecutor said.

According to him, the accused and his collaborators also destroyed a telephone handset worth N7,000 and tore their employer’s shirt, valued at N10, 000.

Samuel said that the offences contravened Sections 410, 171 and 337 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The Magistrate, Miss A .R Onilogbo, granted the accused N50,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.

Onilogbo subsequently adjourned to November 1, for hearing.

  1. What the employee did was totally wrong even though he was fighting for the right thing. There are far better ways to ask for your money than going all physical with your boss.
