Mavin Records star, Korede Bello, was disgraced by the students of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Ogba Lagos during the school’s 5th Annual Students’ week which kicked on Monday, May 18, at the Institution’s premises for denying being an alumnus of the Institution.
Korede, famous for his single, #Godwin was said to have finished from the institution last year and even performed at last year’s edition of the same event, was denied an opportunity perform this year.
Reports say the denial prompted Korede to go on his knee begging for publicly denying ever been a student at the Institution.
In an interview Korede granted some national newspapers, he allegedly denied being an ex-student of the school claiming to have graduated from the University of Lagos (UNILAG).
Some students of the institution especially his classmates who could talk to him on social media challenged him for denying his alma mater, in reply, Korede reportedly insulted them.
NIJ began the one week programme with a musical concert and surprisingly, Korede Bello and his manager, Casper who the students described as incompetent stormed the event uninvited.
His arrival sprouted emotions among the students who saw it as an opportunity to get back at him for his betrayal.
They booed him and denied him access to mount the stage at the show which had Folashade crooner, Adekunle Gold, Shoki star Lil Kesh and many others in attendance.
The young Korede couldn’t help but went on his kneels to apologize for his ignorance but the students rejected his apology.
It took the intervention of the vice provost of the institution Mr. Jide Johnson and some other lecturers who held a close-door meeting with them before he was allowed on stage.
To express their displeasure at his performance, some of the aggrieved students interrupted him on stage as they disconnected the speakers.
Many of them couldn’t pay attention to his performance.
It was confirmed that Korede was a student of the institution when he was an upcoming act.
Reports say he was signed to Mavin Records when he was in National Diploma NDII at NIJ.
He finished his course in Mass Communication last year.
