Toyota Nigeria Ltd has donated 5 vehicles to the Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF) to support the force’s counter-insurgency efforts.
Managaing Director, Toyota Nigeria, Kunle Ade-Ojo presented the vehicles to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen Tukur Buratai at a ceremony in Maiduguri, Borno state on Thursday.
Ojo while speaking at the presentation said, “Today’s event is a clear manifestation of Toyota Nigeria support for the MNJTF in its quest to make Nigeria and indeed the West African sub -region a safer place for all. With this gesture, we are consciously complementing government tireless crusade against insurgency and its associated criminal activities in the sub-region.
“That is why we reckoning at Toyota that the crusade against insurgency deserves the support and solidarity of all, hence the donation of the vehicles,” he added.
While reacting to the gesture, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen Buratai thanked the company for the donation and promised the judicious use of the vehicles in tackling the Boko Haram insurgency. He added that the donation will serve as a morale boost to the soldiers fighting the terrorists.
He concluded by stating the recent successes of the armed forces in Gamboru and other areas, in a bid to rid the country of the Boko Haram menace.
