A group of South African students have burned down their secondary school because they think it is too ugly.

According to the Timeslive, the students from Esokheni Secondary School near Greytown were reportedly unhappy with the state of their school in relation to the other schools in their district. And that’s not all their grievance; they also wanted free breakfast served as part of the existing school nutrition programme.

And seeing that they were not getting the attention they want, they decided to torch the building.

However, this did not stop school session from running its course.

Speaking with the press, the Education Department spokesperson‚ Kwazi Mthethwa‚ said that a delegation had been sent to the school.

“At this stage we are trying to understand what has gone wrong at that school. We are investigating‚” he said. “We are happy to report that classes‚ as well as trial examinations are continuing despite the interruption yesterday.”

The spokesperson confirmed that only two of the classrooms and a storeroom had been razed before the fire was put out.

Now, classes are on and the students have not just an ‘ugly’ building, but a burnt section. Icing on the cake?
