Chelsea’s midfielder N’Golo Kante has come out and suggested that one of his teammates at the France national team should win the 2018 Ballon d’Or after their success winning this year’s FIFA World Cup in Russia.
The Chelsea Star put up the Paris-Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe and Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann as the two Frenchmen that should be considered for the annual award prize.
The two reigning champions, Lionel Messi and rival Cristiano Ronaldo have got their hands on the prize an astonishing five times each, at that Kante hinted that it’s time the prize is awarded to someone else.
“It is a really nice form of recognition. It is the second year in a row that I am featuring in the top 30.
“It is not the most important, but it is still nice recognition for the work and performances of the last two seasons.
“The winner of the Ballon D’or, I think it will be difficult.
“You have Luke Modric who has had a good season, it would be nice for it to come to a Frenchman because of the World Cup,” Kante explained according to UK Sun.
Meanwhile, a host of top football talents on the planet are once again, set to battle it out for the prestigious Ballon d’Or award as a list for 2018 honours was unveiled on Monday by France Football, the organizers of the award event.
Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Mohamed Salah were all included in the top 30 list, which includes the best footballers on the planet.
Real Madrid’s Luka Modric is also in the running to be named the Ballon d’Or winner for 2018 after winning the FIFA Best award.
