The Nigerian Police has denied receiving any bench warrant from the Code of Conduct Tribunal for the arrest of Senate President, Bukola Saraki. It will be recalled that on Friday the tribunal issued out an arrest warrant for the senate president for failure to appear before it on allegations of false declaration of assets.
According to a Punch report, the police had said they were yet to receive the bench warrant, adding that Senate President Bukola Saraki would be picked up once the Inspector-General of Police, Solomon Arase received the order.
Police Public Relations Officer, Olabisi Kolawole confirmed the report on Sunday that the police was yet to get the warrant.
She said, “We have not received the warrant, you know today is Sunday and the courts don’t work on weekends. So, it’s likely that the order would get to us on Monday.”
