Spanish club, Valencia has left out striker, Alvaro Negredo from its squad to take-on Belgian club, Gent, on Tuesday in the UEFA Champions League.
Negredo, since joining from Manchester City in 2014/2015 season, has struggled with his form and fitness at the Spanish side. He scored only 6 times in 33 appearances for the side.
The 30 year old European Championship winner has disputed that there was no rift between coach, Nuno Espirito Santo, and himself though his playing time has been limited.
Nuno, speaking ahead on the mid-week encounter, said that the decision to drop Negredo was a technical one.
Nuno said, “All the decisions we’ve made are based on technical, sporting reasons.
“It’s a long season, there are lots of competitions and every player will be important in the end.
“It is my obligation to get the best out of all the players in my squad and look for ways to improve. We’re not going to give up on that,” he insisted.
