Former German international and Bayern Munich Sporting Director, Matthias Sammer has praised Munich defender, Jerome Boateng calling him the best defender in the world.
48 year old Ballon d’Or winner, Matthias showered encomium on Boateng’s improved style of play and compared the 27 year old to German great, Franz Beckenbauer.
Since moving from English side, Manchester City, in 2011 after the FA Cup triumph to Bundesliga champion, Bayern Munich, Boateng has won 9 club titles including the 2013 UEFA Champions League.
Boateng also won the FIFA World Cup with the German National team last Summer.
Matthias while speaking with Audi Star Talk on Thursday said, “His whole development has been amazing. He has stabilised his play and now he is a complete player. So he won the Champions League with Bayern Munich and he won the World Cup with Germany.
“There’s no question that he is the best defender in the world.
“It is a very great compliment for Jerome Boateng that his style of play is linked with the legendary Franz Beckenbauer.
“I like it very much that Jerome is already called Kaiser by some other players,” he added.
Boateng has played 11 times for Bayern Munich this season and has been very instrumental in the attacking play of the Pep Guardiola-side.
