Lulu Jemimah the 32-year-old Ugandan woman who exchanged vows with herself following pressure from her parents to settle down despite her desire to complete her studies first, which was her ultimate goal.
Lulu Jemimah has finally raised the required fees for her second and final year of her masters studies at the prestigious Oxford University in the United Kingdom.
The creative writing student needed £10,194 (N4.793 million) but to her surprise, she received £11,694 (N5.498 million) after some funds were sent to her off line
It was reported that the funds were raised within a month after her extraordinary wedding just to cool off pressure from her parents went viral on the internet.
By Monday, November 12, 2018, Jemimah had put an end to the fund raise on her Go Fund Me page indicating the excess amount will be used for her visa processing.
“No longer accepting donations,imagine that, I never thought I would say this, but I am now going to turn off donations for the campaign,” Jemimah wrote.
According to her the funds were raised by 169 people who were touched by her wedding story.
She also said a donor had volunteered to pay for her air ticket to and from the United Kingdom for the remaining period of her studies.
“I still can’t believe that a private sponsor also offered to pay for all remaining flights in relation to the course,” she added.
“This means that not only did we raise enough money to cover tuition, I do not have to worry about bank transfers, flights and my next visa application fees,” the student said.
Meanwhile, About 20 women were stripped naked by security operatives in Uganda following a gun-battle between the police and guardsmen of Kasese district.
