In what could be described as a quite unfortunate incident, a 20-year-old man got stuck inside a public toilet while trying to help his friend retrieve his phone.
Cato Berntsen Larsen had volunteered to help his friend retrieve his phone and went further to climb into the public toilet feet-first but couldn’t get out afterwards.
The incident happened in Drammen, near Oslo, Norway, but he was fortunate enough to have survived it as he was rescued after much effort by firefighters.
The toilet tank isn’t connected to the sewer system, but is an old-fashioned outhouse-style loo that is only emptied once a season.
More disgusting is the fact that he even vomited inside the loo as soon as he got into the tank and spent around an hour standing thigh-deep in urine, faeces and his own vomit. Yuck! Disgusting right?
Moments after he was rescued, Larsen said: “I was obviously slim enough to get into it, but not slim enough to get out. I was down there for one hour, and it was very unpleasant.
“It was disgusting as hell. The worst thing I have ever experienced. Animals were down there too. I will never enter a toilet again. Now my body hurts, and I will go home and get some rest.”
It all started when his friend dropped his phone down the toilet while urinating, and shouted for Larsen’s help getting it back.
Larsen who is an amateur diver, said he ‘did not think twice’ about going in to get the phone for his friend because he never foresaw the unfortunate incident.
In their bid to rescue him, firefighters had to completely destroy the toilet which is now out of service.
Larsen suffered minor injuries to his upper arms, as well as several animal bites. He was given antibiotics.
But unfortunately, he was still unable to retrieve the phone despite his best efforts.
